A challenging Network only award for undertaking a personal development, peace or environment project that has sustainable outcomes. The Scouts of the...Full event information
How long have you been Scouting?:
Over 20 years now...From starting as a Beaver Scout right up to the present day as the County Network Commissioner and a Scout Leader in Northfleet (I was even briefly a Venture before becoming one of the very 1st Explorer Scouts!).
What's your best Scouting experience?:
Well, I have 2 that are fairly even... the 1st being that of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro as part of the Kent Scouts team in 2012. The 2nd, becoming a Queen Scout and parading at Windsor in front of the Queen! That was a day filled with pride and raw emotion!
Why do you scout?:
Nowadays I scout because I want to give back, cliche I know. When I was a young person in the movement I learn't so much and gained loads, from skills and experiences to friends. I want the opportunities I had to continue to be available to others.
What is your role in the team?:
My role in the team is to lead it. I give support and guidance to those supporting you as Network Scouts. Also...when it all goes wrong (only occasionally!), the buck stops with me!
What do you do when you're not Scouting?:
I work and I study! At the moment I am the Retail Development Manager at Kent Canoes and I am also undertaking my degree in Graphic Design. Good job I like being busy!
